The Georgia Fair Business Practices Act (FBPA) is the state's primary consumer protection law. It prohibits "unfair or deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of consumer transactions."

The FBPA is designed to protect consumers from dishonest businesses and to encourage fair competition. If a business intentionally deceives you, you can sue for damages.

We are here to help. Hyslip Legal represents Georgia consumers against auto dealers, debt collectors, and other businesses that violate the FBPA.

The Notice Requirement

Like some other states, Georgia requires you to send a written notice to the business before filing a lawsuit for damages:

  • 30-Day Notice: You must describe the unfair or deceptive act and the injury suffered.
  • Opportunity to Cure: The business has 30 days to make a written tender of settlement. If they offer a reasonable settlement and you reject it, your damages in court may be limited.
  • We Handle This: We will draft and send this notice for you to ensure it meets all legal requirements.

Is this happening to you?

You may be entitled to compensation of $500–$1,500 per violation.
